About Xeqan
Xeqan (Khagan Hajizada) is an Azerbaijani composer and pianist whose works are rooted in emotion, time, and memory. His music combines classical piano minimalism with ambient and cinematic orchestration, evoking a deep sense of nostalgia and visual storytelling.
Born on October 30, 2002 in Samidxan village, Masalli, Azerbaijan, Xeqan began his musical creation at the age of seven, experimenting with melodies and emotional harmonies on the piano. By twelve, he started formal piano education, completing seven years of training. During this period, he developed a strong connection between sound and emotion — something that later became the foundation of his cinematic style.
At fifteen, he began composing short instrumental pieces inspired by films and visual emotions. Over time, his passion evolved into creating full-length cinematic scores and piano albums. While studying economics at university, Xeqan continued composing and producing music, transforming his creative journey into a professional career. His artistic philosophy revolves around the belief that music should speak when words fall silent.
Two years later, in 2024, he released his first major studio album, “Həsrət (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)”, a deeply personal project featuring 21 piano compositions exploring themes of love, loss, and remembrance. His earlier works include the debut album “Three Years” (2023), as well as singles like “Silent Farewell” and “Breathe Again.”
Today, Xeqan continues to compose from his studio in Baku, blending classical and cinematic elements to create emotionally rich soundscapes. His compositions are available worldwide on major platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and more.
